Past SLA Fundraising Events- 2005

Here are some of the fundraisers SLA ran in 2005

'Back To Your Youth' Party - December 2005

A 'Back to your Youth' party was held at the Orwell Lodge in Edinburgh and was a great success. The event raised more than £500, thanks to all involved.

Quiz Night - October 2005

A Quiz Night at Canonmills Baptist Church was a great success and a total sell-out. The evening raised over £1500. Many thanks to Rosemary McRae and all the other helpers for organising such a fun night.

Marathon - June 2005

SLA teamed up with Durham University Charities Committee (DUCK) to raise money at the Edinburgh Marathon 2005 (pictures). This year we had 120 runners, either in a relay or undertaking the whole 26.2 miles. Money is still coming in through our, but our current total is just over £21,000 which is absolutely fantastic. The runners used the Just Giving website to help in their fundraising efforts and we will continue to us as a way of giving to SLA on-line.

West Highland Way Walk - May 2005

In May 2005 James Tulloch walked the West Highland Way for SLA raising an incredible £3000 to help Salmon Raj and Kumaraja, two polio-afflicted boys walk normally. James' story is all the more remarkable given that, after an accident during his school days when he broke his back, he was told he might never walk again.

Cadenza Concert - April 2005

The Cadenza Choir gave so much delight and enjoyment to the large audience that gathered to hear them sing two years ago, that when they offered to organise another concert for SLA we jumped at the opportunity and happily accepted. What a treat once again to be given the gift of a Cadenza concert as a fundraiser for SLA from this excellent choir. Thank you to the Cadenza Choir and everyone involved in raising the magnificent sum of £920 for the children of SLA.
