India Ideas for School Fundraisers

These ideas can stand on their own or you can incorporate them all into an India day involving the whole class or school. Either the children can use the sponsor sheet (see Downloads section on this page) or you can ask each child to bring a small amount in on the day for SLA.

Go the Distance

All of the activities can come under the title GO THE DISTANCE as they involve a period of continued exercise.

WALKING THE DARJEELING TEA PLANTATION

The children walk a distance with a tea bag on a spoon. This is a very good activity for the younger children in the school.

INDIAN CRICKET

The children play non-stop cricket for an allotted period of time

DANCING IN THE HIMALAYAS

A 20 minute dance aerobic work out to Bollywood music

SWIMMING THE RIVER GANGES

Non stop swimming for a period of time if school has a pool

DANCING IN THE INDIAN JUNGLE

Non stop Scottish country dancing-organise a big sponsored dance where everyone does the Gay Gordons, or Dashing White Sergeant non stop for an allotted time. This would involve the children learning the dance first and then coming into the school Hall at a certain time and just dancing! Usually after 15 minutes they are all exhausted

RACE ACROSS THE THAR DESERT

Each class is in a line and then they start off jogging. After a few seconds the person at the back runs up to the front of the line, the line jogs for a minute or two and then the back person runs to the front and this continues until everyone has been at the front.  It usually lasts just under 30 minutes and if the class can keep jogging for that time, they feel great.  This would be for the older children
