Irvine Welsh Competition - Terms and Conditions Agreement
By entering into the prize draw, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
Organiser & Promoter
The prize draw is being organised and promoted by Scottish Love in Action (the “organiser”), also known as "SLA", a charity registered in Scotland (registered charity SC030516) and company limited by guarantee (company number SC280397), registered office St Ninian’s Centre, 140 The Pleasance, Edinburgh EH8 9RR. The Prize
The winner of the prize-draw will be entitled to have a character named after him or her, or to choose a name for a character, in Irvine Welsh’s new book. The book is the prequel to Irvine Welsh's first novel, Trainspotting and is expected to be published in 2011.
The author reserves the right to reject any name put forward by the winner, including any name that may cause offense or any name that risks infringing any third party rights. In the event that any character name chosen by the winner is rejected, the winner shall be entitled to select an alternative name.
There is no cash or other prize alternative available.
The prize may not be transferred by the winner to any other person, other than with the consent of the organiser. Such consent shall be at the organiser’s sole discretion
Who can enter
The competition is only open to all UK residents aged 16 and over, excluding employees of the organiser and their immediate families and any persons professionally connected with the prize-draw.
How to Enter
Entry into the prize draw can be made as follows:
Text Entries
Entry texts will cost £1.50 (the entry fee) plus your standard network rate, which shall be a single one-off charge removed from your airtime balance with your mobile network service provider. Scottish Love in Action will receive a minimum of 91p per entry. Please note that your entry texts may not be included in all inclusive text packages.
If entering the competition by text you are required to send a text containing the keyword BOOK followed by A , B or C to 84424 by mobile phone. Incorrect entries will not be included in the draw but will be charged.
The organiser reserves the right to reject entries from persons whom they have a reasonable right to believe have insufficient credit on their mobile phone account to pay the entry fee or for whom, at the time of the draw, message delivery is unconfirmed.
There is a risk that due to the nature of SMS and mobile network technology, if your entry is submitted close to the final date and time for submission of entries, your entry may be received too late to be entered into the draw. By entering into the draw you agree to be charged as a donation to charity regardless of whether your entry was included in the qualifying entries for the draw.

Online Entry
Online entry will cost £1.50 and of that SLA will receive at least £1.28 per entry.
If entering the competition online please ensure that only one of the answers to the competition question is ticked (either a, b or c). If more that one answer box is ticked the entry will not be included in the draw but you will be charged for your entry.

Postal Entry
Entry can be made by sending each single entry (together with contact details at which you can be contacted in the event of winning) by post to Scottish Love in Action, St Ninian's Centre, 140 The Pleasance, Edinburgh, EH8 9RR.
Entry - General
There is no restriction upon the number of times you may enter so long as your answer is the same in each entry.
By entering into the prize-draw you agree to be charged as a donation to charity regardless of whether your entry was included in the qualifying entries for the draw. Entrants must ensure that they have the permission of the person responsible for the ‘phone bill or payment card before participating.
Further Information
You will only receive further information on Scottish Love in Action's charitable activities if you have let us know at the time of entry that you wish to receive further information. Which you can do by following your text message answer submitted with the word yes (e.g. BOOK C YES) or by selecting YES to the question ‘would you like to periodically receive information about our work’ or requesting more information in your postal entry.
The Prize-Draw
The Prize Draw closing date has now been extended and all entries must be received by 12 noon on Saturday 30th October 2010, UK time zone.
The prize will be drawn at random from a container with all correct entries received under independent supervision following the passing of the closing date and time.
The Winner
The winner will be notified by phone call, text or email at the relevant phone number or, email address that initiated the winning text or online entry. If the winning entry was submitted by post, the winner will be notified via the contact details provided. Notification will take place by Thursday 4th November 2010. In the event that the winner cannot be contacted within 28 days of 30th October 2010, the organiser reserves the right to cancel their entitlement to the prize and award the prize to a reserve-winner, selected at the same time as the original winner.
The winner will be deemed to be the person in whose name the telephone used for entry is registered or if entering online, the person to whom the payment card is registered.
Publicity
The draw winner may be asked by Scottish Love in Action and/or the author to participate in publicity and photography associated with the win but shall be under no obligation to do so.
