A huge personality in the Light of Love Home Dilip, also called David, arrived at the Home in 2003 and was there for over 10 years. His parents had both died from typhoid and he was brought to the Home by villagers who could not afford to support him. Initially Dilip struggled, he missed the individual attention. However he settled well and grew into a real leader with an infectious sense of humour. He was very bright and hoped to one day become a doctor but he was also a superb dancer and, as well as performing, helped choreograph shows. Dilip dreamt of one day visiting Australia as he thought it looked so beautiful in pictures.
Despite all efforts from the Director of the Home, Sony Wood, and his teamto persuade Dilip to stay on at the Home and to stress the importance of further education for him, he left the Home in 2013 under pressure from his uncle to earn money and started work as a roof tiler. It was while doing this job on a building site we believe Dilip fell to his death.
Although it happened last year we have only recently received this sad news of Dilip’s death and it has shocked us all. He lit up the lives of all who met him and is greatly missed by his family both at the Home and in Scotland. RIP Dilip.
