Fireworks Extravaganza!

For some SLA have been seeking to identify a fundraising event that reflects our purpose - joyful children - and that captures the imagination and support of the local community.

With all of the 2,600 tickets for the event sold in less than two weeks we quickly realised that we had found an event which the local community were keen to embrace and which could become a popular annual fundraising event for us.

Under a clear and starry sky the event started to the stirring sound of the George Watson’s College Pipes and Drums. They were followed by a magical fire show with a troupe of 30 fire performers and musicians, PyroCeltica and to finish the evening the audience were treated to a fabulous Fireworks display executed by the professional Fireworks Company, Pyromancer.

Thanks to Ryden Lettings’ generous sponsorship the first ever SLA Fireworks Extravaganza! raised over £14,000. SLA are indebted to both Rydens and George Watson’s College for all their support and help.We are also aware that we could not have managed to stage an event of this size without the fantastic support of so many willing and enthusiastic volunteers (an incredible130 volunteers helped on the night!) and the generosity of so many companies and organisations; it is wonderful to see what can be achieved when everyone pulls together and it is this support and commitment that enables us to continue to feed, clothe, educate and provide medical care to the once destitute children in our care in India.

We have had lots of positive feedback about the night and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. We are already planning next year!
