In Hyderabad, India, where there are 28,000 children living on the streets, our new Indian partners urgently need funds to rescue, care for, educate and empower girls so they can decide their own futures.
SLA needs your support to help these vulnerable girls to:
> Get off the streets
> Stay in education
> Resist child marriage
> Resist child labour
> Break cycles of poverty
WHAT IS OUR CHALLENGE?
To rescue 100 girls living on the streets of Hyderabad and feed, clothe, house, educate and care for them in the ASRITHA Rainbow Home.
To empower 6,000 vulnerable adolescent girls to decide their own futures by providing VOICE 4 Girls educational camps on girls’ rights, reproductive health, sexual relations, future planning, financial literacy and other topics.
To do this we need to raise £100,000 this year.
WHY GIRLS’ PROJECTS?
If you educate a girl, she will make better life choices, earn a higher income, better support her children’s health and education and benefit her community. There is a multiplier effect unleashed when a girl is educated, takes control of her life, pursues her dreams and serves as an active and equal citizen. Invest in a girl and everybody wins.
Dynamic Indian organisations, along with local governments, are striving to improve girls’ lives. We are delighted to be partnering with ASRITHA Rainbow Home and VOICE 4 Girls for a trial period of three years. We are particularly excited because local governments and educators have recognized, endorsed and given some funding towards their work.
India is changing. We hear a lot about the Indian economy, but there are still too many children in poverty. By working with these organisations we can empower them to solve India’s problems.
