SLA has a dedicated and hard working group of volunteers who have worked tirelessly since the Charity began and who continue to support the children in India. We have opportunities for more people to join us so we can expand the ways in which we raise funds.
If any of the opportunities below appeal to you, please print off the SLA UK Volunteer Form, complete it and return it addressed to ASLA, at the SLA office. A member of the Resource Team will contact you as soon as possible.
Not all volunteers are part of a team and we are grateful for all the fundraising everyone does; if you don’t live in the Lothians or prefer to fundraise amongst your friends and you need any ideas please check out our fundraising pages.
A vital role in SLA is raising funds to continue to support the children and as a charity we are committed to offer support, information and our gratitude to those willing to create and organise events, big or small for SLA.
This is an exciting innovation for SLA, designed to validate and encourage those willing to organise events, on an annual basis. Already we have a Fundraising Ambassador who with a group of friends organises a successful Soup and Book sale and another who sells her jam at her own coffee morning. Please give some consideration to what you and a few friends might be able to do in your area. We can arrange a speaker at your event or provide leaflets and information for you to distribute.
We welcome help with some administrative tasks, as we aim to keep our administrative costs to a minimum. The tasks require a range of skills from basic administration to computer and telephone abilities and the time commitment is flexible and varies from project to project. If you have a few hours to spare, now and then and are happy to respond to requests for help this opportunity might be ideal for you.
Volunteers are a vital component in our successful annual Fireworks Extravaganza in November and fulfil varied roles from stewarding, marshalling and catering. Our Fireworks Coordinator welcomes new recruits.
