VoSLA, Volunteers of SLA
SLA has a loyal and hard working core of volunteers who for 10 years have fund raised tirelessly and who continue to work hard to support the children in India. Now in Edinburgh we are looking for more volunteers to join them in the next decade of work to expand ways in which we raise the funds needed to continue the work.
To support and keep the increased number of volunteers informed, SLA in Edinburgh has organised 6 teams. Each team will have a Team Leader who will co ordinate the members and their availability and keep everyone up to date with what is happening in SLA. This may be replicated in the future in other towns and cities that have shown their interest in supporting the children.
Resource Team; to facilitate recruitment of volunteers, maintain data base of registration of volunteers, organise informal meetings with potential volunteers and facilitate move to teams.
Edinburgh Fundraising Team (EFT); will initiate and respond to ideas and develop and coordinate new and existing events to raise money in line with ethos and guidelines of SLA. It will liaise with ET & CT and also organise particular events at the request of the Trustees.
Events Team (ET); to provide practical support with the appropriate number of volunteers to set up, staff and clear up at events, working with EFT & CT teams prior during and after events.
Catering Team (CT); to provide catering support at events where appropriate, working in conjunction with EFT & ET.
Speakers & Sales Team; Provide speakers to give talks about SLA to groups as requested and people to man the sales table at talks.
Street/Shop Collection Team; to provide manpower to support the annual Valentine’s Day street collection and develop the project of collection tins in shops.
If any of these teams appeal to you, please print off the SLA Volunteer form on the downloads section of this page, complete it and return to the SLA Office. A member of the Resource team will contact you as soon as possible after receipt of the form and organise to meet to talk further.
