Volunteer in India

SLA offers suitable, interested volunteers the opportunity to spend time in Tuni, helping with the ongoing work at the Light of Love home and the surrounding area. SLA does not finance the volunteers.

Group Work Expeditions

We are currently reorganising our Volunteer Programme.

We have had two successful pilot ventures in February and November 2011.

We are now collating all the information and will launch the completely revised Volunteer Program in early 2012. The revised information and application form will appear at that time on the website and the programme will be open for people to apply. We envisage having two groups going out in 2012.

The projects area great opportunity to meet the children of SLA and become involved in some of the incredibly valuable and rewarding work undertaken by SLA and its inspiring and innovative NGO partner in India.

volunteers in india

The SLA story began with a group of committed, idealistic young people selflessly volunteering their time and labour. The original QII trip to India in 1999 was a revelation for all involved. With this in mind, the SLA Trust decided that as part of our awareness-raising mission this incredible experience should be shared.

In the past 12 years over 130 volunteers of all ages, including several medics and teachers, have worked with the children. It means so much to the children that these "white chickens" have travelled so far to help them. It also continually reinforces and refreshes the relationship between the children and staff in India and SLA in Scotland.
