HIV/AIDS
HIV/AIDS is a major concern. The disease has orphaned almost one in ten of our children and one of Dr Sowmya's, priorities is to test all the children for HIV/AIDS so we can provide them with the right drugs and nutrition to fight the virus.
Arwyn Finnie, a SLA volunteer who visited the Tuni Home in 2006 wrote::
In 2008, Dr Sowmya tested 50 of the children and discovered three with the virus. Tulasi and Rebecca are currently in remission but the third child, Anusha, died after being nursed in the Light of Love Home. In 2008-2009 Sowmya plans to test all the other children.
