Hyderabad Home-cum-School

In 2007, the SLA trustees decided, after careful consideration, to respond to an emergency request from Dr. Premdas, our Indian partner, to feed, clothe and give medical care to 62 children whose Indian sponsor was tragically killed in a car accident.

These children live in our second Home-cum-School, in the capital of Andhra Pradesh Hyderabad. Mary Mani, the widow of the home's founder, is now in charge of day-to-day operations and lives in the home with her two daughters.

As in the Light of Love Home, most of the children are Dalits and many have been orphaned or come from families unable to feed them.

The cost of running the school i.e. teachers salaries and resources, is not paid by SLA but is funded from two sources: the schools fees it receives from 93 local children who come daily to the school and some support from the local church. This scheme is very impressive and shows some form of self sufficiency for the project as it funds the education costs for the 62 children in our Home.
