Our Indian Partner

Our Indian partner is the Nazareth Association for Social Awareness (NASA), a grassroots non-governmental organisation (NGO) founded by Dr. Christopher Premdas in 1985.

Dr Premdas and Dalit houseThe purpose of NASA is to provide a better future for the most vulnerable and oppressed sections of Indian society, particularly orphans, the disabled, leprosy and HIV/AIDS sufferers, sex workers, Adivasi (tribal) peoples and Dalits (Untouchables).

Dr. Premdas is a Dalit and a Christian who has dedicated NASA to empowering Dalit people living in extreme poverty and fighting for their rights against the practice of Untouchability. While working for a local relief agency, he was inspired by an encounter near the town of Tuni, in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
