SLA Staff and Volunteers
From the beginning, SLA's work in Scotland was carried out on an entirely voluntary, unpaid basis with the day-to-day work done by Gillie Davidson, working full time from her home. Gillie and the other trustees still devote long hours to the work of SLA.
However, with the rapid expansion of the Light of Love Home the SLA trustees agreed that we could no longer exist on these efforts alone. We decided to employ a full-time Development Manager and a part-time Information and Communication's Officer.
The Information and Communication's Officer Vicki Watson started in 2006 and Colin McRae, the Development Manager, started in January 2007. Colin was a member of the QII youth group that helped build the Light of Love Home in 1999.
We are also lucky to have two excellent volunteer staff. Barbara Brown is our administrator and comes into the office two days a week. Jill Wilson, our finance officer, contributes one day a week to our accounting.

In addition, many other volunteers work both in the office and outside, organising fundraising events and giving talks and presentations.
In the past 10 years we have also welcomed over 90 volunteers into the home to work with the children. Each one has been overwhelmed by the experience and many have returned for a second time. Find out more information about volunteering in India.
