Hemanti was born in 2002.

He has only been at the Home since 2013. His father died of AIDS and his mother has taken a job in a hotel, many hours away from the family home. Hemanti had been doing well at a small local school where minimal fees were paid. This is very common in India as the government schools often provide no education and parents scrape together what they can to afford some kind of education. Now there is no money to send Hemanti to school or to properly feed him but he is a bright, hard working boy and so was brought to the Home to continue his education.

He loves his teachers and thinks the school is so good. He mixes well with the other children and considers them his new family.
