As India is confronting the impact of the second wave of Covid, every pound received makes a big difference in ensure vulnerable children in India can keep accessing the learning and skills they need to break free from the poverty trap.  To find out more about what we do, see below and sign up here to join our mailing list.

Needed now, more than ever

Covid is putting huge strain on the economy, health and education in India. Most schools have been closed since last March, meaning many children will never go back to education, risking the creation of a ‘lost generation’.

For 21 years, we have partnered with grassroots NGOs in India to care for, protect and educate more than 10,000 children and young people. They are given the tools they need to overcome the challenges ahead and build positive futures for themselves, their families and their communities.

The work we do with our partners today, creates sustainable, generational change: it is needed now more than ever.

How we make a difference

Our new Livelihoods Project with Rainbow Homes is ensuring that 600 young people across Hyderabad, Kolkata and Bangalore are receiving individual support and mentoring during the frightening situation caused by Covid. Aimed at less academic young people, it provides life-skills, vocational training and opportunities to ensure they enter adult life on a level playing field with all other young people.

Our partner ASRITHA Rainbow Home rescue girls from the streets of Hyderabad, rehabilitating them and enabling them to access a full education. None of the ASRITHA children or staff have caught Covid during the pandemic, testament to their excellent standards of care and protection.

Voice4Girls run educational programmes for adolescent girls and boys from disadvantaged backgrounds, teaching them their rights to stay in education, not marry young, understand their bodies and take control of their lives. Voice are delivering their work online during the pandemic, educating and empowering children and encouraging their families and communities to safeguard their rights.

Creating positive futures

The knowledge, learning and skills our partners provide are what children and young people will need to overcome the challenges ahead. All of the work we do with our partners today, changes children and young people’s lives forever: it is needed now more than ever before.
