International Women’s Day Celebrations

April 19, 2016

Recently Colin McRae (Executive Director) & Susan Dick (Trustee) spent a few days in Tuni and whilst there the children celebrated International Women’s Day.

The girls dressed up as key female role models, including Mother Theresa and Sania Mirza (India’s highest ranking female tennis player) and as representatives of the professions, including law and medicine.
The message was loud and clear, women should be treated the same as men and that they can achieve anything; an inspiring message in any culture.
To end the day and much to the amusement of all the children the women teaching staff and Home staff had a game of musical chairs, won by one of the new female home wardens who was presented with a new sari.
A fun way to celebrate the role of women on International Women’s day but an important message to encourage these young women to reach their full potential.
