Meet our new team

An organisation’s greatest asset is the people – staff, Trustees and volunteers – who deliver the charity’s mission.

Welcoming new staff

We would like to introduce some new faces who joined the Scottish Love in Action team.

In August we welcomed our first member of staff with lived experience of our cause. Gowri lived in India for 10 years, before moving with her family to live in Edinburgh. An employee who has lived in India is a step towards better representing the communities we serve. This marks progress for our charity.

Thanks to our bold vision, and some fundraising, we now have 6 staff, our biggest team in our charity’s history.

A team effort

We would like to thank some organisations:

  • Funders – Graduate Career Advantage Scotland, and Edinburgh Guarantee – paid the salaries of Ally and Gowri.
  • Charity, Music in Hospitals and Care, donated desks and chairs. They no longer needed the items of furniture, but our new employees needed somewhere to work! This is an example of charities helping each other.
  • Inclusive recruitment organisation, AAI EmployAbility, brought together employers and minority ethnic women who want to return to work (often having raised a family). Employers advised women what they look for when they recruit, while the women returners helped employers think what they can do so that women of colour feel comfortable to apply for job and volunteer vacancies.

Funders, another charity, and an inclusive recruitment organisation. It has been a team effort!

What this means

We look forward to the knowledge, experience, and extra capacity for fundraising our new team will bring.
