With her clear focus and merits to date, Rumi could excel in her chosen area.

Rumi is 19 years old. She came to live at the Rainbow Home in Delhi aged just 6 after she and her mother lost everything to a fire incident in their rented room.

She has thrived in her time at the Home. She is very self-motivated and has taken up every opportunity on offer to her. At every step, she has proved herself and gained in confidence and knowledge.

She got the opportunity to study in St Mary’s school, one of the top schools in Delhi, here she completed a 1-year course in IT  as well as learning Bharatnatyam  and basic French as well.

She gained experience and shined with her journalistic skills after becoming involved in the Rainbow Sathi, which is the Quarterly magazine for children that Rainbow Homes Programme produce.

After finishing school she was took up a position in the role of librarian-cum-teacher in Village Cottage Home NGO and then enrolled for a BA Psychology from BR Ambedkar college, Delhi university. She wants to get practice Child Psychology in the future.

With the support of the Livelihood Programme, Rumi could go into a very strong managerial position given her merits to date. All she needs is monetary support and career guidance to support her interests and learning. With her strong personality, she will excel in her chosen area.
